Darryl Austin is an expert on criminal procedure and consumer protection and
has been invited to speak and lecture before numerous groups focused on those
main issues. Mr. Austin began his legal career handling criminal and traffic
violations, while also working at a boutique Employment and Labor firm in New
Jersey. The opportunity then presented itself for Mr. Austin to serve as an Assistant
District Attorney for the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New
York. While there, Mr. Austin was responsible for prosecuting several hundred
misdemeanor and felony cases, in conjunction with litigating appellate matters.
In addition to his criminal defense experience, Darryl has developed a robust
Employment and Labor practice, and is Of Counsel to the law firm of Eric S.
Pennington, P.C., handling cases in both Federal and State Courts. As a defense
attorney, Mr. Austin has tried criminal cases throughout New York, New Jersey,
and Texas and has received numerous acquittals in each state. Mr. Austin has
successfully received favorable outcomes for his clients without the need of trial
through dismissals and negotiated pleas.
Mr. Austin is an active member of the New York Bar Association, Metropolitan Black
Bar Association, Practicing Attorneys for Law Students, and the Thurgood Marshall
Alumni Organization. Darryl Austin’s extensive and diverse legal experience proves
valuable day in and day out when counseling clients through difficult and taxing
